China has launched anti-dumping inspections on conventional plastic products imported from the United States, the European Union, Taiwan and Japan. China's Commerce Ministry has said imports of polyoxymethylene copolymer used in electronics and automobiles are a clear indication of China's intent to retaliate in response to trade disputes with the United States and Europe.
The announcement comes as China's trade tensions with the United States and the European Union have escalated in recent months. Less than a week ago, Washington sharply increased tariffs on Chinese products such as electric vehicles (EVs), solar panels, and computer chips. U.S. the new policy also extended to higher border tariffs imposed by the Trump administration on Chinese goods. In response, China's Ministry of Commerce said the new measures would "significantly affect the atmosphere of bilateral cooperation" and criticized the politicization of economic issues.
Ahead of the long-awaited announcement from the White House, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesman said China "will take all necessary measures to protect its legitimate rights and interests" Again, on Monday, China's sanctions were imposed on three American defense firms over arms sales to State media reported that Taiwan. Europe has initiated numerous investigations into Chinese imports. The EU introduced on Friday that it'll release an inquiry into Chinese tinplate metal. Additionally, Brussels is probing two Chinese solar panel producers, alleging that they get hold of government subsidies. The European Commission (EC), responsible for overseeing the EU's change guidelines, has set a deadline of 4th July to determine whether to impose measures in opposition to imports of Chinese-made electric motors.
